The Nutcracker, set to Tchaikovsky’s glorious music, is a heartwarming holiday tradition for every member of the family.
You will be dazzled by a Christmas tree that grows larger than life, a lively battle between soldiers and mice, snow that falls and much more. Sawnee Ballet Theatre’s production of this enchanting full-length ballet brings the magical characters in Clara’s dream to life.
Each year, Artistic Director Joan Kall Stewart brings something new to the performance, and this year is no exception!
The Nutcracker Story
At a Christmas party hosted by the Silverhaus family, Clara receives a nutcracker in the shape of a toy soldier from Herr Drosselmeyer. After the party, Clara has an incredible dream where magical things happen! A battle rages between huge mice and the Nutcracker’s toy soldiers. When Clara saves the Nutcracker's life, an evil spell is broken, and he turns into a handsome Prince. Clara and the Prince journey to the Land of Sweets where dancers from around the world perform for Clara to honor her for her bravery.
